Financial Controller - 1 yr FTC
Apply for this jobWe have an exciting opportunity for a Financial Controller looking to work within a commercial business on a one year fixed term contract. This would suit a candidate with monthly management accounting experience, previous experience of managing a team as well as a thorough knowledge of accounting principles.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Company’s financial accounting and transaction processing departments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To prepare budgets and forecasts of the balance sheet
- To control the balance sheet through ensuring that all balance sheet reconciliations are produced, reviewed and signed off every period
- To identify, document and test the processes and controls in place within the key accounting cycles
- To ensure that documented processes are available for review (including for internal and external audit purposes) at any time
- To ensure that the sales and purchase ledgers are maintained up to date and are managed in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures
- To develop the cash and treasury management function to ensure that appropriate cash is available within the business but otherwise invested within the policies agreed by the Company
- To maintain the integrity of the chart of accounts (in respect of the balance sheet)
- To prepare the Company’s and its subsidiaries year-end financial statements, ensuring a full and complete audit trail
- To be a key contributor to the internal and external audit process
- To manage colleagues within the department, providing clear opportunities for growth and development
- To perform any other duties appropriate to the role
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Solid legal knowledge and experience required in the areas of ACA, ACCA or equivalent with at least 3 years PQE
- Previous experience of managing a finance team (ideally through systems changes)
- Strong level of business and financial acumen
- Strong focus on risk management
- Ability to analyse the internal and external environment for data and trends and action the information
- Demonstrable experience of the ability to ensure that transactional aspects of the role are well executed and controlled in a fast-moving, changing working environment
