We have an exciting opportunity for a Financial Controller looking to work within a commercial business on a one year fixed term contract.  This would suit a candidate with monthly management accounting experience, previous experience of managing a team as well as a thorough knowledge of accounting principles.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Company’s financial accounting and transaction processing departments.


  • To prepare budgets and forecasts of the balance sheet
  • To control the balance sheet through ensuring that all balance sheet reconciliations are produced, reviewed and signed off every period
  • To identify, document and test the processes and controls in place within the key accounting cycles
  • To ensure that documented processes are available for review (including for internal and external audit purposes) at any time
  • To ensure that the sales and purchase ledgers are maintained up to date and are managed in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures
  • To develop the cash and treasury management function to ensure that appropriate cash is available within the business but otherwise invested within the policies agreed by the Company
  • To maintain the integrity of the chart of accounts (in respect of the balance sheet)
  • To prepare the Company’s and its subsidiaries year-end financial statements, ensuring a full and complete audit trail
  • To be a key contributor to the internal and external audit process
  • To manage colleagues within the department, providing clear opportunities for growth and development
  • To perform any other duties appropriate to the role


  • Solid legal knowledge and experience required in the areas of ACA, ACCA or equivalent with at least 3 years PQE
  • Previous experience of managing a finance team (ideally through systems changes)
  • Strong level of business and financial acumen
  • Strong focus on risk management
  • Ability to analyse the internal and external environment for data and trends and action the information
  • Demonstrable experience of the ability to ensure that transactional aspects of the role are well executed and controlled in a fast-moving, changing working environment
