Our client, a growing and multi-award-winning Trust & Private Office business in Jersey, is seeking a Legal Counsel to join their in-house legal team. This role is ideal for a legal professional with 8-10 years PQE, preferably with in-house trust experience, though candidates with corporate or professional services backgrounds with transferable skills will also be considered.

Reporting to the Group Head of Legal, you will provide strategic legal advice to the Board and senior management, while supporting client-facing teams and external advisers on complex, high-value fiduciary structures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide legal advice to the boards of companies and trustees of trusts administered by the firm
• Offer legal guidance on trusts, companies, and other offshore structures, including risk management and the drafting and management of legal and technical documentation
• Prepare instructions for external advisers and act as a central point of contact for engaging external legal advisers
• Support and assist with legal, tax, and regulatory compliance reporting, including FATCA and CRS, economic substance, trust and company registers, and tax compliance
• Maintain extensive knowledge and understanding of legal and private client tax matters relevant to all aspects of client business
• Collaborate within the Group Legal Form to support legal projects

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Qualified Jersey advocate or English Solicitor/Barrister with a Law degree or equivalent (common law jurisdiction)
• 8-10 years PQE with in-house trust experience preferred
• Open to candidates with corporate or professional services backgrounds with transferable skills
• STEP membership is desirable
• Knowledge of trust and company law and (ideally) UK tax law
• Understanding of the Codes, guidelines, and expectations of the JFSC
